How does Bullion DNA actually work?  Every die used to produce the Gold and Silver Maple Leaf coins is laser micro-engraved with an anti-counterfeiting security mark: a textured maple leaf. The Royal Canadian Mint’s registration process—digital non-destructive activation (DNA) technology—captures images encrypted with a string of code, and stores these in our secure database.

Using the Royal Canadian Mint Bullion DNA device, we can easily verify the authenticity of registered Gold and Silver Maple Leaf bullion coins in three easy steps:

We insert the coin into the Bullion DNA authentication device.  This device is only owned by approved Royal Canadian Mint Bullion DNA Dealers.	We then use the Bullion DNA application to take a high-resolution photo of the coin, either the Gold Maple Leaf or the Silver Maple Leaf of recent years.	The DNA server matches the photo to the image in our database, instantly telling you if the coin is registered with the Royal Canadian Mint.
