Description

$10 Indian Gold Eagle Coin AU (Random Year)

The $10 Indian Gold Eagle coin AU was minted from 1907 to 1933.  There are a larger number of them available, as many of these coins survived the Gold Reserve Act of 1934.   These Gold coins hold a denomination of $10 and are extremely popular with precious metals collectors.

The history behind this coin is truly unique.   President Theodore Roosevelt felt that the country’s current currency was bland and required a new and more artistically designed coin.  In 1904, Roosevelt selected the famous sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens to take on the design of the coin.  After designing Roosevelt’s inaugural medal, Saint-Gaudens took inspiration from the inaugural medal and created the bust of Lady Liberty with a Native American headdress on the obverse of the coin.  He designed the reverse to behold the iconic eagle standing atop a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, much like the reverse of the inaugural medal he had originally designed.

Coin Highlights:

  • Mints: Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco
  • Contains .4838 oz of Gold
  • Lady Liberty encircled by 13 stars and crowned with a war bonnet with the word “Liberty” on her hair band on the obverse
  • Reverse is the iconic eagle with heraldic eagle with the text “United States of America”, “In God We Trust” and “E Pluribus Unum” and the denomination.
