Prized by both collectors and investors, U.S. silver dollars offer an excellent form of bullion for your precious metals portfolio. Historically these coins have held their value like no other 90% silver produced by the U.S. Mint. Although produced in several varieties the most popular and well known are the Morgan and Peace Dollars.
Minted from 1878 to 1901 and again in 1921, the Morgan silver dollar is perhaps the most well known. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse side shows Lady Liberty in profile while the reverse side depicts the American Bald Eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch.
The Peace Dollar, minted from 1921 to 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935, followed in the path of the Morgan’s as the dollar coin for the United States. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the obverse side shows a modern Liberty with flowing hair while the reverse shows an eagle perched atop a branch.
Both of these coins were struck from 90% silver and are excellent investments for those who wish to diversify their precious metals portfolio or to store for times of economic uncertainty.
