The 1 oz American Gold Buffalo coin is available from random years, 2016 and prior.  The American Gold Buffalo is the United States Mint’s .9999 fine Gold coin.  The mint produced its very first 1 oz. .9999 fine Gold Buffalo coin in 2006.

The Gold Buffalo is designed after the famous 1913 Buffalo Nickel, originally designed by James Earle Fraser. The obverse of the coin displays the Indian Head design that is actually a compilation of three famous Native American Chiefs. The Gold American Buffalo has become a favorite among bullion investors that prefer the extra “9” (.9999 versus .999) in gold.
