Mexican Gold 50 Peso AU – Random Years
Priced as low as $17.99 over spot!
The Mexican Gold 50 Peso is the largest of the Mexican Gold coins, and carries a much lower premium than the Gold Libertads. Because Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821, the Gold 50 Peso is often referred to as the “Centenario”. Mexican Gold 50 Pesos are a popular low premium World Gold coin for precious metals collectors.
Each 50 Peso contains 1.2057 oz of Gold and were designed by Emilio del Moral. Issued by the Mexican Mint, La Casa de Moneda de Mexico, between 1921 and 1931 and then again from 1943 to 1972, the majority of Mexican 50 Pesos minted were restrikes of the 1947 coin.
The Mexican Mint was the first mint in the Americas and has consistently represented Mesoamerican and Colonial history on their Gold coins. The 50 Peso design is the Gold Eagle perched on a cactus with the Mexican National Coat of Arms on the obverse. The reverse has the classic Winged Victory, the “Angel of Independence” design, also found on the Libertads.
