90% Silver dimes are a favorite among seasoned bullion investors. All 90% silver is often referred to as “junk” silver, but it is far from junk – it actually contains 90% silver content if minted before 1965. The actual silver content in one of the pre-1965 dimes is .0715 Troy oz of silver. The Coinage Act of 1965 changed the silver content of American coins, with the dimes struck after 1964 including 75% copper and 25% nickel – they are what we consider literal junk!
