These Peace Silver Dollars AU were issued to commemorate post-war peace after World War I.  Peace Silver Dollars are appreciated by Silver collectors due to the limited minting period by the United States Mint.  These Silver Dollars had the shortest minting period of any U.S. currency in our country’s history.  The years they were minted were 1921 to 1928, and then again in 1934 and 1935.  The Peace Dollar was first struck on December 28, 1921 with a mintage of just over 1 million.   1935 was the last year that these Peace Silver Dollars were minted.

The designer of the Peace Dollar was Anthony de Francisci, who was chosen as a result of an art competition for designs that rightly represented and embodied peace.  His design on the obverse of the coin was a beautiful profile of Lady Liberty with a regal and radiant crown upon her head.  The reverse of the coin displays the iconic Bald Eagle clutching the symbolic olive branch in its talons.

These Silver Dollars are actual U.S. currency, not to be confused with the 1 oz Silver Peace Dollar Design Rounds.  These Peace Silver Dollars are in Almost Uncirculated (AU) condition, maintaining most of their original mint luster with minimal wear.
